New Confederate monument proposal!
At a recent Camp #152 Officers meeting, an idea was brought up for a new Confederate monument in Lincoln County. This monument would have the names of every man from Lincoln county that served in the Confederate military and was killed or died during the War Between the States, regardless of where they are buried. This will take a lot of research but with the resources that are available online, it is not impossible. We will start with members of Camp #152 that have an ancestor or know of Confederate soldiers from Lincoln County that died during the war. Here is an example of three that are known: Private James K. Polk Barnes Co. B 32nd Tennessee Infantry, killed at New Hope Church in Georgia. Private John A. Barnes Co. B, 1st Tennessee Infantry, killed at Mechanicsville, Virginia. Private William McCuskey, Co. E, 8th Tennessee Infantry, killed in the Battle of Murfreesboro. The picture below is only a concept, everything starts with an idea and grows into something big!
